Bylakuppe: The Enforcement Directorate that booked Chinese national Charlie Peng in connection to a money laundering racket has now joined the dots and reportedly reached Karnataka’s Tibetan settlement in Bylakuppe, which is the largest Tibetan settlement outside of Tibet after Dharamshala.

Bylakuppe in Mysore district, borders Kodagu and is about 200kms from Bengaluru.

As per sources, Peng had bribed a few monks in Sera Monastery in Bylakuppe from acccount of ‘SK Trading’.

It is said that several shell companies were used by Peng to transfer money to monks and he was bribing several monks living across India, with the aim of buying support for a Chinese man to succeed Dalai Lama.

The bribed monks were also supposed to give details on Dalai Lama, said sources.

While no internal investigation has been launched by the monastery into these allegations, news18.com reports that the monastry authorities are waiting for the investigation by the Indian government to reach a logical conclusion and that the monastery would not stand by the monks if they were found to have done wrong.

Officials said at least 30 monks have been questioned by Karnataka and Delhi police in September to expose the truth.
