Karwar: District In-charge Secretary Munish Moudgil has directed the district administration, here on Sunday, May 19 to adopt government mobile application to track water supply.

Chairing the meet with officials from different departments on the agenda of water crisis and other issues affecting the district he said, “Supply of drinking water through tanker facility is acceptable, but it is better to know how much amount of water is being supplied. It is better to use the mobile app and record the supply, to get exact figures.”

“It is observed that the supply of water, both in city as well as village areas has not been upto the mark, as the public is still facing water shortage. Even though the tankers currently used to supply water are using GPS tracking system, it is not helping us to measure the supply. Thus, if you use a mobile app, it will help record the supply, take a picture of the tanker and also help in recording the dates. This will increase the transparency level in the administration”, he added.

Munish opined that it was better to find a water source in order to resolve such a water crisis in future, although supplying water In tankers was an alternative.

He directed the officials to ensure that there won’t be any issue in supply chain until the monsoons and that the permanent water projects that were initiated to be completed well on time.

Meanwhile, he also spoke on other matters like fodder banks, roads and other infrastructural facilities.

He said, “One fodder bank is already setup in Haliyal town and if required some more can be opened where it is very essential.”

He directed the officials to write a letter to the state government to provide three months of ration in advance.

Deputy Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar K, Additional Deputy Commissioner Nagaraj Singrer, Additional Commissioners Preethi Gehlot, Sajid Ahmed and other officials were present.
