Karwar: Tibetan Spiritual leader Dalai Lama visited the Tibetan colony in Uttara Kannada district on Thursday. He first paid a visit to Lama Camp No-2, Drepung Monastery here.
He was extended a traditional welcome at the monastery, where he also met the elderly monks and inquired about their well-being.
Later, addressing the monks he said that spiritual studies and scientific studies must go hand in hand. “We must keep the Nalanda tradition alive. Goa University has started Nalanda Traditional studies, which is a matter of great happiness,” he said.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar, Zilla Panchayat CEO M Roshan, Sirsi Sub-Divisional Officer Dr Eshwar Ullagaddi, Superintendent of Police Shivaprakash Devaraju among others were present.
