Karwar: The state government has permitted to construct an international cricket stadium at the district headquarters in Karwar.
Speaking to reporters, MLA Satish Sail revealed that the State Cabinet has approved the construction of an international standard cricket stadium at Chitakula village of Sadashivgad in Karwar. The land required for building the stadium will be leased to the Karnataka State Cricket Association.
Earlier, the Karnataka State Cricket Association officials had approved the Rs 15 Crore project on seeing the scenic beauty of the area. The district administration had sought permission from the Cabinet to rent 11.34 acres of land at Rs 40,000 for 20 years.
The MLA said, “Local youth are interested in cricket. Many players had requested for a well-equipped cricket stadium in Karwar. Through my petitions to the state government, the project has been sanctioned. I am happy that I could fulfill the wishes of the players.”
