Karwar: All measures are being taken to ensure the peaceful celebrations of Muharram and Ganesh Chathurthi in September, said the district’s new Superintendent of Police Shivaprasad Devaraju.
Addressing a press conference, Devaraju said that both communities must celebrate the festivals in a peaceful manner. “Any unwanted incidents will be handled as per the law,” he warned.
He instructed the organisers to first obtain permission for DJ events and music amplifiers from the police station within the jurisdictional limits.
“Information will be sought from everywhere and visits will be made to all the 28 police stations in the district,” he added.
Devaraju also said that the police are keeping track of all the illegal activities going on in the district and that they are ready to nab the culprits under any provision of the law
