Karwar: Prominent folk artist and Padma Awardee Sukri Bommannagowda popularly known as “Sukrajji”, who was under the treatment for respiratory disorders has been discharged from the district hospital, on Wednesday, September 18, as her health conditions improved.
Before she was discharged from the hospital, Red Cross organization handed over a bed sheet, rug and other necessary items. Ajay Saukar, a member from Red Cross, district secretary Jagadeesh Birkodikar and others were present.
It can be recalled that Sukrajji was admitted to the hospital on September 12 morning, after she complained of respiratory problems, at her residence located in the Badigeri village of Ankola district. She was taken to the district hospital by President of the Janashakthi Vedike Madhava Nayak.
Considered as the nightingale of the Halakki Vokkaliga tribes, Sukrajji was awarded the Padma Shri in 2018 for folk singing.
