Karwar: No one can prevent the disqualified MLAs from contesting in the by-elections on October 21, said disqualified Yellapur lawmaker Shivaram Hebbar.
Speaking to media persons in the Yellapur constituency, he said that he is confident that any court will allow them to contest in the elections.
“The last date to file the nominations for the by-polls is September 30. It is also the last date to take a decision,” he told the media.
It can be recalled that 17 MLAs from the Congress and JD(S) political parties were disqualified by former Karnataka Assembly speaker Ramesh Kumar for ignoring the whip order issued by their respective parties to be present for the crucial trust vote.
The disqualified MLAs have moved the Supreme Court, challenging the former speaker’s decision to disqualify them and ban them from contesting in elections till the year 2023.
