Karwar: Diamond jewellery and other items were stolen from a Mangalurean woman while she was travelling on the Matsyagandhya Express. The incident is reported to have occurred between Margaon and Gokarna.
Shameela Shetty was travelling in the AC bogey of the Matsyagandha Express with the valuables in her bag.
The culprits stole some diamond nose rings, two navarathna chains, one diamond pendant, a clock and two mobile phones. The total worth of the stolen items comes up to Rs 9 lakhs. Apart from these valuables, they also stole Rs 5000 in cash.
In her complaint to the police, the woman speculated that the crime could have been committed by the person who was sitting next to her.
Police have begun an investigation into the case.
