Karwar: In a horrific car-lorry collision on Monday, January 27, a couple died on spot, while their children suffered severe injuries.
The deceased are identified as Vishnu Naik (45) and Vidya Naik (40). Their daughters Swani Naik (9) and Vaishnavi Naik (16) were severely injured in the accident.
As per reports, the accident occurred along the national highway near Chendia village.
According to sources, Vishnu Naik and his family were travelling in their car towards Karwar from Kumta.
They collided head-on with an oncoming lorry that was moving towards Ankola, the impact of which resulted in the spot deaths of the parents. Swani, who was in the back seat, suffered a broken right hand, while Vaishnavi suffered major injuries on her legs and face.
Both the girls were immediately rushed to the district hospital in an ambulance.
The Karwar Rural Police reached the spot, assessed the situation and filed a case.
