Chikkamagaluru: Two men accused of the rape and murder of a college girl, have been sentenced to death by the district court on Saturday, January 18.
The accused are Santhosh and Pradeep. They were sentenced to death after it was proved that they were involved in the crime. They were also charged a fine of Rs 25,000.
It can be recalled that the duo had raped and killed an 18-year-old college student on February 16, 2016, when she was returning home after her exams. According to reports, the duo had forcibly taken her into a forest area and raped and murdered her. Later, they dumped her body in a dried well.
An investigation into the case was initiated after the girl’s father filed a complaint with the police.
After four long years, the court has, today, pronounced the death sentence for the duo.
