New Delhi: A woman journalist, who was travelling by car at around 12.30 AM on Sunday, June 23, was shot at by a group of masked men in another car. The incident is reported to have occurred in east Delhi’s Vasundhara Enclave.

The journalist has been identified as Mitali Chandola, who lives in Noida. According to the police, she was reportedly driving her Hyundai i20 car on Sunday when a Maruti Swift suddenly overtook her and fired two bullets at her.

The police said that the bullets pierced through the front windshield of Chandola’s car, one of which hit her hand. Chandola informed the police the assailants threw eggs at her car’s windshield before finally speeding away.

Chandola was admitted to a hospital in east Delhi and is said to be out of danger.

The police are currently investigating if any gang that targets commuters at night with eggs to stun and rob them were involved in the attack. They have, however, not ruled out the possibility of personal enmity as, according to the police, Chandola said that she is not on good terms with her family.

The police informed that although Chandola’s arm received bullet injuries, she is out of danger. They added that prima facie, the incident appears to be related to a family dispute. They are now on the hunt for the accused.
