New Delhi: S S Ahluwalia, Union minister and sitting Member of Parliament from the Darjeeling constituency as reportedly backed out of the Lok Sabha elections from here. He reportedly informed the BJP that he does not want to contest in the elections from Darjeeling, but is ready to contest from any other constituency given to him by the party.
Ahluwalia won the elections in Darjeeling in 2014, with the support of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha. His name was not featured on the BJP’s first list that came out on March 21.
Darjeeling will go to polls on April 18 in the second phase of the elections.
