Kannur: A seven-year-old boy waited for almost five hours to meet Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday, April 17, the day when the Congress leader addressed party workers at an auditorium in Kerala’s Kannur district. But the boy had to return home disappointed as he could not meet his favorite leader due to security reasons.
Reportedly, Nandan with his parents, reached the auditorium at 5 AM on Wednesday, where Rahul was to address the party workers, but was denied entry into the hall. Rahul’s address was scheduled for 9 AM.
Nandan’s father shared the details of the incident through his Facebook account and the post went viral. Reportedly, a local Congress leader who came across the post arranged for a phone call between Rahul Gandhi and the boy.
On Thursday, April 18, Rahul Gandhi’s new Wayanad Twitter account shared the story of Nandan and stated that the boy’s wish to speak to the Congress chief had been fulfilled.
A local media report stated that Nandan’s mother received a phone call from Rahul Gandhi asking her if he could speak with her son. The media report had quoted the boy’s mother as saying, “This is your Rahul Gandhi. Mone (beta), speak to him.”
Rahul who was on a three-day visit to Kerala, offered prayers at the famous Thirunelli temple and also performed rituals in memory of his grandmother Indira Gandhi and father Rajiv Gandhi. Wayanad is the second seat from where Rahul Gandhi is contesting the Lok Sabha elections, apart from his constituency Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.
