Thiruvananthapuram: The Pinarayi-led government has announced a complete weekend lockdown on July 31 and August 1 due to surge in Covid cases.
Kerala registered 22,056 new Covid-19 cases on Wednesday July 28th, bringing the total number of cases to 33,27,301, with 131 more deaths.
Mansukh Mandaviya, the Union Health Minister, announced that the central government will deploy a six-member team to Kerala, led by the director of the National Center for Disease Control.
“As large number of Covid cases are still being reported in Kerala, the team will aid the state’s ongoing efforts in Covid-19 management,” the minister wrote in a tweet from his personal Twitter account.
