Patna: Minutes after opting for VRS, Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey featured in a music video titled ‘DGP Pandey Robinhod Bihar ke’, which has now gone viral.
Pandey opted for voluntary retirement on Tuesday and as per sources he nurtured political aspirations. However, Pandey has rejected such speculation.
The song sung by Deepak Thakur of Bigg Boss fame glorifies the IPS officer, calling him the Robinhood of Bihar and a leader who had always stood for the cause of people.
The video, which features the senior IPS officer shows Pandey donning his uniform, working in his office etc.
“He has been supporting youths for years and so the people gives him the title of Robinhood in Bihar. So guys it’s a tribute from us to him. This is not only a song but it is an emotion which we feel from the bottom of our heart,” the video description on YouTube states.
The video further describes Gupteshwar Pandey as “pride of Bihar and nation”.
If Pandey plunges into political arena, then it is not his first attempt to be part of the Bihar politics. In 2009 too, he had sought VRS to contest Lok Sabha election, but with intervention of Nitish Kumar, he was made to return to service.
Gupteshwar Pandey had recently stoked a controversy with his ‘aukaat’ remarks on Rhea Chakraborty in connection with the probe into actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
The speculation of his political entry has evoked wide criticism from various quarters as many are linking his fight for justice for Sushant Singh Rajput as a strategy to gain political benefits.
