Hubbali: “The Mandya Lok Sabha independent candidate Sumalatha Ambareesh already knew that the state coalition would nominate a Janata Dal (S) candidate here”, said State Water Resource Minister D K Shivakumar here on Tuesday, May 7.
DKShi who is also the Kundagol Assembly by-election in-charge, said, “Our sister Sumalatha was already informed by us that the Congress-JDS state coalition was going to field a JDS candidate in Mandya. She was promised of an alternative constituency.”
“Even after assuring of placing her in an alternative Lok Sabha constituency, she left the coalition support and contested as an independent candidate and also gained support from other political parties”, he added.
Meanwhile, he also announced that the doors were open for those who would like to leave the Bharatiya Janata Party and join the Congress-JDS coalition.
He also opined that after the results of 2019 general elections on May 23, the state coalition would grow even stronger.
