Hubbali: Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi has informed that a high-level probe will be conducted into the violence at the Jawaharlal Nehru University.
Speaking to the media on Monday, January 6, he said. “At the outset, it seems like the fight was between two different groups. But it is very condemnable for the Congress to blame the BJP for the violence, physical assault on lecturers and students and vandalism of infrastructure.”
“JNU is known for such incidents occurring. There are possibilities that a mischievous act escalated to a violent fight. Therefore, we have ordered that the matter be probed,” he added.
It can be recalled that masked individuals armed with iron rods and sticks assaulted students and teachers of JNU and vandalized the property on Sunday, January 5 evening.
Around 20 students and several lecturers were injured and were rushed to the All India Insititute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), where protests were held by JNU students.
The Congress and other Opposition parties have blamed the Rashtriya Swyamsevak Sangh (RSS) student wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) for the violence.
The incident later turned into a ‘political war’ between the BJP and the Opposition.
