Hubbali: Sitting MP and Bharatiya Janata Party Hubbali Lok Sabha constituency candidate Prahalad Joshi has criticized the Congress and Janata Dal (S) with regard to Lingayat separate religion row, here on Tuesday, April 16.

He said that both the Congress and the JDS had no clear stand on the Lingayat religion issue and that they were politicizing the issue.

“The Congress till date has stood by the left ideology which has a selective approach when it comes to religion and has always neglected the Hindus. They have not got good intention towards the Lingayat religion status and its solution, but want to paint it politically. Their stand keeps changing according to election requirement”, Joshi said.

Meanwhile, MLA Jagadish Shettar too has stood by Joshi’s statement and said that State Home Minister M B Patil’s letter to President of Indian National Congress (INC) Sonia Gandhi regarding the Lingayat separate religion clearly indicated that they were taking political advantage.
