Haveri: The CID sleuths questioned Hindu Mahasabha chief Swami Pranavananda and his driver on Thursday in connection with the killing of rationalist MM Kalburgi.
According to sources, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) police questioned the duo at Ranebennur in Haveri district.
Prof Kalburgi earlier received death threats from head of the right-wing group for allegedly insulting the Hindu religion.
It is learnt that the questioning, however, failed to make any headway into the probe. The police have reportedly told their higher officers that the angles being probed – property disputes within the family, professional jealousy, and possible action by violent pro-Kannada and pro-Hindutva groups – had not yielded any results.
