Haveri: In a tragic accident, Kalaburagi Lokayukta Superintendent of Police M B Patil was killed on spot and 12 others were seriously injured when a KSRTC sleeper bus rammed into a stationary truck at Hanagal Bypass on Friday, September 16.
According to police sources, the accident took place after midnight. The KSRTC bus which was plying between Belagavi and Bengaluru, crashed into a sugar-laden lorry from the rear side which was parked on the road side. The bus then hit a Tempo traveler.
The impact of the collision was so much that one side of the bus was badly damaged. The top cop who was seated in the front row was killed on the spot.
The injured were shifted to nearby government hospital.
