Farmers Facing Injustice due to Ettinahole project: Prajwal Revanna

Hassan: Hassan MLA Prajwal Revanna here on Thursday, April 1 expressed his disappointment over injustice to farmers due to Ettinahole project and how the farmers were still unable to get compensation despite years of acquisition.

Addressing a quarterly review meeting of Lok Sabha members at taluk panchayat auditorium in town, he said the engineers and officials of Ettinahole project should make sincere and immediate efforts to resolve the problems of the farmers.

On the issue, Ramesh, an officer of Ettinahole project informed the meeting that the project works were facing hurdles due to the alleged problems with forest department. Soon after, the MLA discussed the issue in the meeting with forest officials. Meanwhile the MP intervened and instructed the forest department officials to register a case stating that due to the irresponsibility of the department officials, the Ettinahole project has not been progressing well.

The main road of the tourist destination is narrow due to which the traffic snags have become common posing inconvenience to the tourists, MLA Prajwal observed and informed that the widening of the main road will be initiated soon.

Elaborating on the matter, he informed the meeting that he has spoken to the top officials about the widening of the almost dilapidated main road and instructed the corporation chief Sajiv Kumar to conduct a proper survey and submit the facts.

MLA further noted that to provide land compensation Rs. 195 crores is needed and in this regard Rs 117 crores have been received. He informed that forest area comprises 3,618 acres of land, of which 50 acres have been allotted to 419 people and grant letter has been provided too.

MLA K.S. Lingesh alleged that the agriculture department was being influenced as farmers are not made aware of the various schemes allotted by the government. He alleged of misappropriation in construction of 17 farm ponds constructed by contractors in connivance of officials. He appealed to release grants to build 50 community halls in the taluk and got an assurance from the MP for the same. He further instructed that the agasarahalli bridge be completed soon. He warned the engineer to complete the roads laden with gravel stone at Arehalli within two weeks.
