Hassan: In Naganahalli village of Channarayapatna, a local resident planted over 4,000 trees mostly fruit-bearing trees to save the cow grazing land (gomala) in the last few years. He started this initiative five years ago with 350 trees and now this entire four acres of land has become a mini forest.
Manjegowda, a local resident is a green warrior. Five years ago, a few people started encroaching four acres of gomala land in the village. To save the government land, he started planting trees. Now this entire area has become a mini forest.
In the summer, Manjegowda irrigates the trees by bringing water in the tankers. He has made a drip irrigation facility for each tree. This shows his love for the trees.
According to Manjegowda, his idea was to make the village green by planting as many trees as possible. “If everyone develops love for trees, we can find solutions for many of our problems,” he says.
