Hassan: As many as 16 bonded labourers, including four children, four women and eight men, have been rescued from a sugar cane farm in the Holenarasipur taluk of the Hassan district.
According to the police, these 16 bonded labourers were rescued from a sugar cane farm in the Mandanahalli village of the Holenarasipur taluk.
The details of the farm owner and agent are yet to be disclosed as the investigation into the matter is still underway.
Police sources say that these bonded labourers were asked to work for 15 hours a day. These labourers hail from Bhadravati in Shivamogga and Tamil Nadu.
As of now, the rescued labourers have been lodged in a government hostel in Holenarasipur.
