Kalaburgi: The Congress party should support the Shiv Sena for five years if it wants to form the government in Maharashtra, said former PM and JD(S) chief H D Deve Gowda.
Speaking to reporters in Kalaburgi on Monday, November 11, Deve Gowda said, "If the Congress gives support to Shiv Sena, they should not disturb it for the next five years, only then people will trust the Congress party."
Recalling the political history of Maharashtra, Deve Gowda said, "Bal Thackeray gave place to the BJP in Maharashtra, L K Advani and former PM Vajpayee went to his residence and had requested him for seats."
"Today, the BJP overrode that and that is why Uddhav Thackeray has taken a stand that will teach them a lesson. Now, it's for Congress and NCP to put the BJP down," he added.
When asked about the upcoming by-polls in Karnataka, HDD reiterated that the JD(S) will be contesting in all 15 seats independently. He said, "I cannot predict how many seats we are going to win but we are certainly going to give a good performance."
