Kalaburgi: The Vice-Chancellor of Gulbarga University, Parimala Ambekar has clarified about the cancellation of former JNU Students’ Union president Kanhaiya Kumar’s speech at the campus. As per a report by ANI, the Vice-Chancellor explained that the permission for the speech was revoked due to security reasons.
Speaking to ANI, she said, “We had concerns over the security of the campus, considering which, I took the decision to cancel the programme. There was no order from the Governor.”
It can be recalled that the university, on Tuesday, revoked the permission for the speech just hours before it was to be held. The police had also imposed Section 144 of the CrPC in the area.
