Bengaluru: In a gesture, which won the hearts of millions of people across the state, Kalaburugi DC Sharat B donated his entire month’s salary towards the 85th Kannada Sahithya Sammelana to be held in the Kalaburugi city between February 5 and 7.
His monthly salary is Rs.97,461. He gave the cheque to Kannada Sahithya Parishat district unit president Veerabhadra Simpi on Wednesday.
It is for the first time that a DC donated his entire month’s salary for the cause of Kannada.
Meanwhile, the reception committee of the sammelana which prepared an estimation of Rs.14 crores decided to approach the donors and government employees for the donation collection fearing that government may not release the entire amount required to organise the sammelana.
