Kalburgi: The district sessions court on Thursday, sentenced an accused to 12 year severe imprisonment in connection with sexual assault case of a minor girl in Jevargi taluk.
Mehboob Patel, accused in the sexual assault case was sentenced to 12 year imprisonment under the POCSO Act and also asked to pay Rs 75,000 fine. Judge M Premavathi ruled the verdict and special government Prosecutor L V Chatnalkar argued on behalf of the government.
On July 17 2014, accused Mehboob Patel had lured the girl in a pretext of giving Rs 4 when she was playing in front of a residence belonging to one Tarabai. Then, he took the girl to his house and assaulted her sexually. Tarabai and Yenkamma, who were witnesses, had complained to the police.
