Gadag: Dodduru Thandava village in Lakshmeshwar Taluk of Gadag District has no basic facilities and this elections it doesn’t have even a polling booth.

Doddur Thandava is a village with 1050 people out of which more than 450 are voters. The villagers have to walk about 4 Km to reach their polling booth to cast their votes.

The villagers dread their voting ordeal whenever the elections are announced and curse the authorities for not setting up a polling booth in their village.

The villagers for the past 40 years are requesting the authorities to set up a polling booth in their village, but the government has turned a blind eye towards their repeated appeals.

According to the villagers, the voting percentage in the village is very low, not beyond 40%.
This is because the village does not have any basic facilities like transportation. Old and sick people, differently abled people and women don’t attempt to vote due to this.

The villagers say that even their repeated requests were not of any use. The villagers are remembered only during the elections for their votes and once it is over nobody turns towards this village.

The villagers are now saying that they will boycott the elections if the polling booth is not set up in their village.
