Beijing: A Chinese software engineer came up with a brilliant idea to keep his girlfriend happy. He designed a chatbot to chat with his girlfriend while he was busy at work.
"Baby, this is our 618th day together. Hope you’ll feel bright as the sun." A romantic message like this would definitely make anyone's day brighter. However, if the next message reads, "Temperature: 18.0° - 34.0° C… Wind: Level 3… Air quality: 42.0", one is going to get suspicious.
Li Kaixiang felt that he was neglecting his partner's messages on WeChat because of his busy schedule at work. He decided to design a bot that would reply to each of his girlfriend's messages while he was at work.
The engineer took to Chinese microblogging site Weibo and said that he was surprised to find that his girlfriend had exchanged about 300 messages with the bot by the time he was done with his work, according to a report in Abacus News.
The woman suspected that something was wrong as her boyfriend was replying very fast to her messages. To this, the chatbot surprisingly played dumb and said, "How can I respond when there's no problem?"
It seems that Li's Weibo account was deleted, however, screenshots of the bot's conversation with his girlfriend have gone viral.
Netizens had various reactions to Li's gesture. There were many who appreciated Li's romantic gesture to entertain his partner, while others said that talking to a bot, instead of a boyfriend, was a good idea. One of the many comments on the post read, "Brother, send me the source code please."
