JagannathPuriRathYatraHumanCorridoAmbulanceMJust a few days after a video had gone viral on social media that showed protestors in Hong Kong making way for an ambulance to pass through a jam-packed road, devotees at Puri Rath Yatra have done something similar and earned praise from thousands of locals and netizens.

On July 4, around 1,200 volunteers and lakhs of devotees at the Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra created a human corridor for an ambulance to pass through.

A video of the ambulance passing through the long corridor was later shared on the official Twitter handle of Puri SP. It has now gone viral with over 15,000 views, 1,700 reactions, and 554 retweets.

“1200 volunteers, 10 organizations and hours of practice made this human corridor for free ambulance movement possible during Puri Rath Yatra 2019,” SP Puri wrote on Twitter.

Twitter was flooded with reactions after the video went viral. Thousands of users praised the volunteers and devotees for making a way in an orderly manner, and more importantly, valuing human life.

One user wrote, “Liked the way, Volunteers made the way for an ambulance and merged after the ambulance passed. Can the same be achieved in Metro cities like Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, etc.”

“In my entire tenure as Jr MVI at Puri RTO I have not seen such a planned way for passing ambulances for providing emergency services to the patients. Great job sir,” wrote another.

“This is great work. Only possible through proper planning and coordination. Kudos to @AMITABHTHAKUR21 Sir who lead the traffic movement during Rath yatra. Thank you Sir,” wrote Santosh Kumar.

The gesture reminded people of how tens of thousands of protestors in Hong Kong, who were calling out for leader Carrie Lam to step down brought traffic to a complete standstill in many parts of central Hong Kong. However, when an ambulance appeared in the middle of the road, they made way for it without any signs of resistance.
