Mangaluru: Modi masks had once become a craze among his supporters and as the LS polls are fast approaching, attempts are being made to re-create the magic.

The recently held Rathothsava at Venkataramana temple, Car Street had a counter selling various Modi merchandise-varying from masks, notebooks, mugs to caps, T-shirts and keychain among others. The counter was installed by ‘Team-Modi’, a group of people, which was constituted to re-elect Narendra Modi as the prime minister again in our country.

Though ‘Okuli’ was a religious programme as part of the six-day ‘Kodial Theru’, a group of youth were seen engaging in spraying colourful water and applying colours to each other wearing T-shirts, with ‘Namo Again’ on it. They bought T-shirts from the same counter, which was exclusively set up for selling Modi products.

Ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s app has been transformed into a multi-purpose platform now. Along with mobilising volunteers for the election campaign and seeking small donations through this Modi’s app, it also creates a positive impression of Narendra Modi by selling Modi products through Namo Merchandise. If a party worker or Modi supporter wants Modi branded products, he can get it online. As it takes at least two days to receive, ‘Team Modi’ had set up a counter in Car Street to sell products easily to the people.

Soon after the Rathotsava programme, the counter was lifted from the place and it will be installed at ‘Mischief Mall’ in the city shortly, says Naresh Shenoy, founder of ‘Team Modi’ who earlier founded ‘Namo Brigade’ during the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

Speaking to newskarnataka.com Naresh Shenoy clarified that the motive behind selling Modi products is not for gaining profit, but it is to create a positive atmosphere, to ensure Modi as prime minister of the country again. “Thousands of people purchased products especially Namo keychain. Even small children also evinced interest towards the purchase of such products. It shows their love towards our Modi”, he informed.

Shenoy also informed that ‘Team Modi’ has already started its campaign to educate the voters through its volunteers. “Through our new programme ‘Oorigobba Modi Doota’, we have been giving some materials like video clippings, posters among others to a volunteer, who in turn educates the voters about the welfare programmes of Modi led union government”, he explained.
