Mumbai: Gully Boy, Zoya Akhtar directorial starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, scripted history on February 15 when it won 13 awards at the Filmfare Awards held in Guwahati, Assam.

Many cheered and congratulated the tea, however, many were quick to criticise the organisers as they did not feel that the movie deserved many of the awards.

This has become such a hot topic for discussion with many calling out the organisers for being biased and ever since the night of the award ceremony, the #BoycottFilfare has been trending on Twitter.

Soon after, someone decided to show exactly what they thought about the organisers’ choice by altering entries on the Filmfare Awards’ Wikipedia page.

One of the sections on the Filmfare Awards’ page reflects the films that have won the most number of awards each year.

As Wikipedia pages can be edited by anyone, a user took the opportunity and added a sort of disclaimer to the entry where it showed that Gully Boy is the winner of the most number of awards for the year 2020.

The person entered “(Paid award)” next to Gully Boy, which appears at the top of the list, which is sorted from most to least.

This development left Twitterati in a tizzy and they gave their various reactions to the change, making the screenshot of the updated list go viral on social media.

As of now, it appears that someone has removed the “paid award” remark and all that remains are screenshots.
