Dharwad: The Election Commission issued a notice to veteran Congress leader Margaret Alva for her remarks on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, here on Tuesday, April 16.
The notice is issued following a personal comment on Modi she made during the Congress Women’s Convention in Hubbali on April 11. She had said that when PM Modi could not look after his wife, then what could be expected in terms of country’s protection from him.
She had said, “He wears a suite worth Rs. 20 Lakh but cannot even provide financial support to his wife. She’s leading the life of a teacher.”
A complaint on the same was filed by the Bharatiya Janata Party District Joint Secretary Lokesh Ambekal to the Election Commission of India (ECI).
After thoroughly going through the complaint letter, the Election Commission has directed the district administration to take stringent action against Alva on the grounds of violation of election model code of conduct.
