Abandoned old man dies of heart attack in orphanage

Dharwad: A septuagenarian, who was reportedly abandoned by his son on the Pune-Bengaluru highway, at Garag cross, on outskirts of Dharwad died at an orphanage in the district civil hospital on Saturday.

Vincent Christin, 76 was abandoned by his son and was found moving around aimlessly on Thursday when he was admitted to an orphanage by district police.

Sources said that Vincent Christen was suffering from Alzheimer’s disease but was otherwise fit.

Even as the police launched a search to trace his relatives, some Catholic organisation members came to meet him. As he was conversing, Vincent developed chest pain and suffered a heart attack.

The dead body has been kept in the morgue as nobody has come forward to claim the body.

Vincent had identified himself and said he was a mechanic and a resident of Mathikere.
