Davanagere: Seer Vachanananda of the Panchamasali Mutt, on Wednesday, January 15, apologised for his behaviour with Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.

Speaking at an event, the seer apologised for his actions on the stage and said, “If I have committed any mistake, I sincerely apologise.”

It can be recalled that the seer, during an event on Tuesday, had pressurised BSY to allocate a ministerial berth to a leader from the Panchamasali community. He specifically backed former minister Murugesh Nirani as a ministerial candidate. He then threatened the CM saying that if he did not induct a Lingayat into the Cabinet, the community would withdraw its support of him.

The threat irked BSY and he immediately got up to leave the event, only to be intimidated by the seer to take his seat.

Seer Vachanananda soon received flak for his behaviour not only from the general public but even from members of his community.

Various political leaders including BJP MLAs Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and Anand Singh, as well as outgoing KPCC president Dinesh Gundu Rao.

They all opined that it was unbecoming of a seer to behave in such a manner.
