Davanagere: The Karnataka Government will bring back the anti-cow slaughter law in the near future, informed BJP state president and MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Nalin said that the BJP government had introduced the anti-cow slaughter law in the past, but it was withdrawn by the Siddaramaiah-led government.
“The number of cattle trafficking cases was high during the Congress’ rule, but this is not seen much now. The government will soon bring back the law,” he said.
Regarding the Sira Assembly bypolls that were just announced by the Election Commission, Nalin expressed his confidence that the BJP would win the seat that was previously held by JD(S) legislator B. Satyanarayana, who passed away on August 5 after a prolonged illness.
“We will finalise our candidate for the bypoll after holding discussions with other BJP leaders,” he said.
To a query regarding the government taking a private TV news channel off the air, Nalin said that the BJP MLAs have responded to the corruption charges during the Assembly session and that the issue will soon be discussed with the party leaders.
