Davangere: While the Karnataka unit of the Congress party is staging protests in some of the districts, raising their voice against the Central Government for hiking the price of essential commodities and for their ‘bad governance', parliamentarian and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel has lashed out at them alleging that it was the "grand old party" that destroyed peace and harmony in the state.
Addressing a gathering at a programme on Saturday, February 15, the MP said, “During Siddaramaiah’s tenure as Karnataka Chief Minister, the state had witnessed only murders, rapes and anti-social activities. The Congress party, for the sake of the ‘vote bank’, set the whole nation on fire. Now, they have continued the same saga with the protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA). They always say that those who oppose the Indian Constitution are traitors. Currently, who is opposing the constitutionally-amended CAA? Who is fighting against the Indian Constitution?”
Mocking the Karnataka Congress unit, Nalin said, “In a few days from now, the Karnataka Assembly session will begin. The situation is such that there is no opposition party at all. The Congress has reached such a situation that if former chief minister Siddaramaiah is made the Opposition leader, then Congress leader D K Shivakumar will walk out of the party and vice versa.”
He further opined that once the Congress high command announces the name of the new KPCC president, the Congress party will collapse in the state.
