Udupi Diocese and other domination religions grieve for martyrs of Sri Lanka attack

Udupi: “One cannot win the world with violence and terrorism, but can only win the world with peace and non-violence,” said Most Rev Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop of Udupi Diocese.

Addressing the condolence meet which was held to grieve for the innocent people who lost their lives in the Lankan terror attack on Easter Sunday, Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo said “It was an emotional and sorrowful atmosphere on Easter day due to the terror attack in Sri Lanka in which more than 350 innocent people were martyred including 10 Indians and more than 40 children. The whole world condemns this cruel act of terrorism”.

Rev Fr. Royson Fernandes PRO of Diocese read the Holy Bible and Rev Fr. Vijay briefed on the words of the Holy Bible. Rev Novel Karkada CSI priest and Rev Steevan Sarvotham of CSI priest spoke during the meet and said “No religion preaches terror. Terrorism is spreading and the safety of mankind and has become a great concern. The United Nations should completely abolish terrorism in the world”.

A large number of people grieved for the martyrs of the Lankan bomb attack by lighting candles.

Ferdinand Gonsalves, Spiritual Director Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh and Parish Priest of Pangala Church, Rev Fr. Vincent Coelho Principal of St John’s PU College, Shankerpura, Rev Fr. William Martis, Priest and Social Activist, Rev Fr. Francis Cornelio parish priest of Thottam Church, Rev Fr Jerald Sandeep D’Mello, Allwyn Quadros President of Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh, Janet Barboza President of Sthree Sanghaton, Udupi Diocese, Yashin Malpe President of District Muslim Okkoota, Mohd Maula Secretary, Aziz Udyavara Joint Secretary and Salahuddin Abdulla, Sahid Ali, Shafi Ahmed Qazi, Naushad Navunda, Hussain Bengre, Rahemutulla Hoode, Mushir Indrali, Qasim Barkur and other leaders of Hindu community were present.

Dion D’Souza President of Udupi Diocese ICYM welcomed the gatherings, Alphonse D’Costa Diocesan Secretary of Pastoral Council and former president of Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh compered and proposed the vote thanks.
