Mangaluru: St Aloysius Institutions celebrated the feast of St Ignatius of Loyola on July 31 at the Loyola Hall.
The theme for the Eucharistic celebration was ‘Give without counting the cost’. The main celebrant on the occasion was Director of St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor, Rev. Fr Wilfred Prakash D’Souza.
In his homily, he emphasised on the Pope’s expectation from the Catholic youth, especially in character formation and academic excellence. He also spoke of how some of the saints who once led a life of sin and falsity, got converted into holy men. He spoke about how various incidents came as a turning point in his own life and changed his attitude to work for the needy.
Following this, the oath was administered to the new Eucharistic ministers by Rev. Fr Dionysius Vaz SJ.
The students generously contributed items of utmost requirement to the poor which was sent to the Centre for Social Concern (CSC) to be donated to the less fortunate.
At the end of the Eucharistic celebration, the Rector spoke about the occasion. Rev. Dr Fr Praveen Martis SJ delivered a vote of thanks.
Refreshments were served to all the staff and students.
