Permannur: A seminar on ‘Effects of Drug Addiction’ was held at the St Sebastian P U College Auditorium on Sunday, July 28 at 9 AM.
Rev. Fr J B Saldanha, parish priest was the chief guest.
The programme began with a prayer dance by the students of St Sebastian English Medium School, Permannur and welcome dance by the students of Holy Angels School, Permannur.
Addressing the gathering, Fr J B Saldanha cautioned the parents to spend more time with their wards and prevent them from falling prey to any form of addiction.
On the occasion, social worker Ganesh Mulki was felicitated for his selfless service to society.
Lydia Lobo Administrator of LINK De-addition and Counseling Centre, Mangaluru, and Ganesh Mulki delivered thought-provoking speeches on the ill-effects of drug addictions. A meaningful and inspiring skit was enacted by the members of ICYM and YCS Unit, Ammebal.
Earlier, saplings were given to all the guests as mementoes.
Nearly 500 students, youth and parents attended the programme.
Melvin C D’Souza Vice President, Parish Pastoral Council and Ronald Fernandez, Secretary, Parish Pastoral Council, Heads of the Educational Institutions Sr Anitha and Cyril, Ronald Serrao, convener of the programme, Naveen Brags, Secretary, Catholic Sabha Mangalore Pradesh (R), Dolphy D Souza, President and Naveen Felix D’Souza, Secretary of Permannur Unit and all the Presidents of Catholic Sabha Mangalore South Deanery were also present.
Felix D Souza welcomed the gathering. Rolphy D’souza introduced the topic of the seminar to the gathering. Naveen Felix D’Souza proposed a vote of thanks. Joslyn D’souza compered the programme.
