Bengaluru: “Masti Venkatesha Iyengar is one of the literary advocates of the Yasodhara’s pain and tragedy,” opined  Gururaja Karajagi at the Masti Awards ceremony hosted by Kolar's Masti Venkatesha Iyengar Trust.

Despite the sad state of affairs that her husband Buddha left behind, Yashodhara has a unique personality and we see it in the way she survives the grief, he said. “Sahiti Masti is a delicate woman. The sensible mind. Thus, Yashodara has received literary justice from authors like Masti. Masti is being said to be a conservative. However, Masti said his respect for Yasodare's role should be understood,” he said.

Award-winning Kannada researcher and folk scholar B.A.Vivek rai said, “Masti has the art of bringing together myth, history and time, country, environment and dimensions. In today's value system, writing is an insight into the complexities of morality, the concept of justice, the complexity and morality of a male-female relationship. We see socialism only as a predetermined theory.”

He said that Masti emphasizes that morality is how society behaves differently than sociality. Masti was of the opinion that morality was important not only to the individual but also to the social, he added.

Sandhya S. Pai, SR Vijayashankar, Subraya Chokkady, Keshavereddi Handrala and Sa. Raghunatha were presented with the award. Actress Aparna Vastare, Masti Venkatesha Iyengar Trust Chairman Mavinakere Ranganathan and Poet Dr B. R. Laxmanarao and other literary figures were present.

Subsequently, Masti's Yasodararama drama was performed by Shirazi Nayana Foundation as part of World Earth Day.
