Mangaluru: Mangaluru University has conducted a program to distribute fruits and other immunity-boosting food items to ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activists) in recognition of their great community service rendering during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Prof. P.Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya distributed the food kits to ASHA workers of the Konaje region and said in his speech “Janaseveye Janardhana seve’ (Public work is God’s work). It is our moral duty to stand in support of ASHA and other healthcare workers who have been serving day and night for the sake of public health in this critical situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.  In this context, with the contribution of donors, our University has taken the initiative to recognize their great service by distributing nutritious food. It is our ‘squirrel’s service’ and we will continue providing our support in making a Corona-free Society.

Dr. Kishore Kumar C.K. Registrar of Mangaluru University has said that just like soldiers how they are protecting our nation by sacrificing their lives, Corona warriors including ASHA workers are safeguarding our lives during the COVID-19 pandemic.   It is equally important to take care of their health and in this context, it is our small help giving them immunity-boosting food kits.

Prof. Prashantha Naik, Coordinator of the event welcomed the gathering and briefed about the importance of the event.
