Mangaluru: The parishioners of Infant Jesus Church, Modankap, celebrated their silver jubilee of the Small Christian Community (SCC) with great zeal and vigor. The day began with the offering of a Eucharistic celebration in the morning. The Holy Mass was offered by Msgr. Lawrence Maxim Noronha, Vicar General of Mangalore Diocese, Fr Jochim Fernandes, Director of SCC, Mangalore Diocese, Fr Valerian Dsouza, parish priest, Fr Ashwin Crasta, assistant parish priest, Fr Peter Noronha, and Fr Stevan Lobo.
After the Eucharistic celebration, all parishioners gathered on the church premises. The event began with a formal stage program wherein the Gurkar of various wards who have served more than 10 years were felicitated. Prizes were given to the winners of various competitions conducted on occasion of Community day.
The formal program was followed by a cultural program performed by parishioners mainly depicting Christian culture and Christian Community. The special attraction of the program was the exhibition of old household and other items arranged by ICYM members.
Mr Sandeep Menezes, Vice-President, Parish council welcomed the gathering. Mr. Richard Dsouza, Secretary, Parish council conveyed the vote of thanks. Kum. Helen Frank, convenor, Small Christian Community presented the annual report.
The program was followed by a sumptuous fellowship meal.
