Kanakapura: Closer to nature in every step

Spending some relaxing time in the midst of nature away from the hustle and bustle of city life is very memorable. For such quality adventures, the city of Kanakapura located along the banks of the Arkavathi River in Ramanagara district of Karnataka is a prime location.

This city, which was once known as the largest constituency in the country, is equipped with a lot of features that defines this spot as an ideal vacation destination specially to escape the summer heat of the sun. From exquisite hills to beautiful waterfalls, the place promises a pleasant stay and an unforgettable experience of serenity for the visitors.

The gorgeous site of the Chunchi falls located in the city is sure to mesmerise and capture the attention of anyone travelling to this area. The plunge is mightier and the surroundings become more vibrant than ever during the monsoon season. Counted as one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Kanakapura, the falls is located in close proximity to the confluence point of Cauvery River and Kollidam River.

To Quench the thirst for adventure, Bilikal Rangaswamy Betta in Kanakapura is the ideal location. With its hill top terrain being apt for trekking and other adventure sports, the added effect of the misty fog during the monsoon gives a sort of enchanting characteristic to the place. The hill is 3780 feet tall and there is a Hindu temple devoted to Lord Rangaswamy located at its top.

One of the more relaxing and laid-back locations in the area is the Kanakapura Park. Although the place may not be the most anticipated destination, it sure has its perks. The Park, with plenty of space and greenery is an ideal place for a lazy stroll across or to spend some quality time with friends and family.

Another prime location of the area is Mekedatu which is famous for its magnificent and peaceful atmosphere. Famous as Goat’s Leap, Mekedatu is basically a stretch of deep, narrow gorges serving as a popular getaway. The waters of Cauvery and Kollidam rivers help flourish the land with rich and luscious greenery. Rainy season has its own hold on the area as the stream flows through the area in full swing.

There exists many camps and resorts which are very popular in the area for providing adventure sports along with a promised relaxed time for its tourists. The Nature Adventure camp located in the area is filled with hundreds of activities in well-designed itineraries that are customised according to the requirements.  Some of these activities include trekking, cave exploration, rope & climbing activities, mud games, high rope traverses, boating, and so on. Staying in the rustic outdoor tents under the starry night sky is one of the popular activities of the region.
