This is a very difficult question to answer because irrespective of the skills of the counselor or a psychologist "who is the best psychologist for you" is dependent on many other factors and not just the skills of the psychologist.
For example, one may find it extremely comfortable sharing their issues with one psychologist. But another person may not be equally comfortable with the same psychologist. Though there are scientific or evidence-based methods that are available in counseling and psychotherapy, the way it is used and the way it impacts a person has various factors contributing to it.
Sometimes it may take a couple of sessions to figure out what is working and what is not with a particular individual.
There are a few people who keep changing their therapists just because one of the sessions or the first session didn't go well. Of course, it is true that in the first session itself you will be able to figure out if you are able to open up about your issues with the psychologist concerned or not. But at the same time, one also needs to understand that sometimes you will have to give some time to the therapist as well as yourself to align with the whole process of counseling and psychotherapy.
Hence, it is most of the time trial and error to find out who is a good therapist for you.
It is true that the skills of the psychologist involved would matter in creating that comfortable space for the client to open up.
And in psychology 'one-size-fits-all' formula doesn't work. Most of the time a medical doctor can give the same pill to treat the fever of different people.
But that doesn't work for the same disorder or mental Agony.
Even in our lives, we have our own choices for coping up with different issues. For example, a person may get de-stressed after going for a long drive. Another person may get relieved when he or she goes for a long walk and one more person may find it relaxing when he or she engages in binge eating.
In a similar way even though the terminologies remain the same as depression, anxiety, or fear the methods of interventions would certainly differ from one to another.
Things happen more organically in a counseling and psychotherapy space.
