Chitradurga: A 96-year-old woman from Chitrdurga district of Karnataka won the battle against Corona virus infection, long with her family and has shown to the world what is required to battle the most feared disease.

According to health department sources, 96-year-old Govindamma along with her son, daughter-in-law and grandson was admitted to a hospital with fever and sore throat on June 25 and all of them were discharged on July 6.

It was the 27-year-old grandson who first tested positive for coronavirus followed by his 62-year-old father and 58-year-old mother. Later, the grandmother too was found positive.

Later, the nonagenarian told the reporters that it was only will power that could help people wade through.

“There is nothing to fear about the virus. Stay strong and have strong will power,” she said.

Ministr for Medical Education Dr K Sudhakar, who shared her story on Twitter wrote:“I congratulate Govindamma of Hiriyur in Chitradurga who defeated COVID. She has set an example to the people of Karnataka by her enthusiasm and courage. Self-confidence and proper treatment is the only way to recover from the infection,” he said.
