Veerappan’s 15th death anniversary celebrated by serving food to thousands

Chamarajanagar: Fans of bandit and elephant poacher Veerappan organized a special programme on his 15th death anniversary, by performing “Annadana” (distributing cooked rice with curry) for the people on Sunday, October 20.

Veerappan’s wife Muthulakshmi also participated In the programme organized in Tamil Nadu’s Moolakadai.

She said, “Earlier, when we used to organize my husband’s death anniversary programme, people and his fans used to be frightened to attend. But, now everyone participates without fear. We have been serving them food in order to greet them.”

According to reports, more than 1000 people were served food during this programme.

It can be recalled that Veerappan was an infamous elephant tusk smuggler and killed more than 120 people from Karnataka in the forests, especially in the Male Mahadeshwara Hill range.

He had held Sandalwood veteran actor the Late Dr Rajkumar captive for 108 days and then released him.

Veerappan was gunned down on October 18, 2004.
