Two jailed for kidnapping and raping a minor

Chamarajanagar: The Chamarajanagar District Court sentenced two years imprisonment and a fine of Rs.5 lakh 20 thousand to two people for kidnapping and raping a minor girl.

Chaluwa alias Selva and Muthu alias Muthuraju are the accused from PB Doddi village of Ramapur police station. Chaluwa after entering into relationship with her, abducted her with Muthu as accomplice from her house on June 2, 2020.

They took a bus to an acquaintance’s house in Garensi village of Coonoor taluk in the Nilgiris district (Ooty) of Tamil Nadu.

She was then taken to the temple of Sri Muneshwara where she was staying on June 6 and then was forced into a child marriage.

The father of a minor girl lodged a complaint with the Ramapur police station for kidnapping. The then Circle Inspector Govindarajura, who had registered the case, had identified the accused involved in the case and filed a charge sheet against them.

Judge Sadashiva S Sultan Puri, who was present at the hearing of the case, issued the final verdict based on the accused’s evidence and sentenced them to two years imprisonment and a fine. Government prosecutor K. Yogesh had argued on behalf of the government.
