Chamarajanagar: An officer from the agriculture department has been caught red-handed by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths at the Assistant Director of Agriculture office, while receiving bribe from a farmer.
According to reports, officer Shivakumar was receiving a bribe from Manju, a farmer and resident of the Mallaihanapura village, for a favour pertaining to agriculture.
Shivakumar is said to have been demanding a bribe from Manju to do his work, prompting the latter to file a complaint with the ACB officials.
Manju brought a sum of Rs 20,000 with him, as directed by Shivakumar, who was caught red-handed receiving the bribe. The operation was conducted by a team of ABC officials led by ACB DySP Sadanand Tippannanavar.
The ACB officials inspected all the documents in the office and have taken stringent action against the officer.
Inspectors Deepak and Shrikanth were also present.
