Mangaluru: Yen Fights Diabetes 2019, insulin injection techniques hands on workshop was conducted by the Department of General Medicine, Yenepoya University, on Wednesday, June 12.
The workshop was inaugurated by Dr M S Moosabba, Principal, Yenepoya Medical College. Dr Padmanabha S, Medical Superintendent, gave the opening remarks on the importance of knowing insulin injection techniques. Dr Prabha Adhikari, HOD Geriatric Medicine welcomed the gathering.
Dr Sydney Dsouza, HOD Medicine, YMC spoke about the value of insulin and how he lost his dear father even before he was born due to non availability of insulin. Sr. Aileen Mathias, Nursing Superintendent highlighted need for update. Dr Shaheen B Shaik, Diabetologist delivered the vote of thanks. Geoviya George compered the programme.
The meeting was attended by 60 nursing faculty and 55 doctors and medical Students. Dr Prabha Adhikari delivered a lecture on insulin type, storage and administration. Dr Sydney Dsouza delivered a lecture on newer insulin. Dr Shaheen B Shaikh spoke on recent ADA guidelines. The highlight of the workshop was use of techniques and demonstration of all insulin delivery devices with simulated injecting Dolls. The workshop was appreciated by all the participants.
